Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL)
Your health is important to you. Everywhere you go you hear how important diet and exercise is to your health.
Not everyone, though, wants to join a gym, hire a trainer, or enroll in a strenuous exercise program. And we all know how well diets don’t work.
Don’t worry. You won’t have to do any of that – starting in a little over a week.
Because, I’m going to hold a one hour Awareness Session where I’m going to lay out in great detail and answer all of your questions about a plan where you can achieve significant health benefits.
Is this some sort of a fad, or gimmick, or are you trying to sell me supplements?
Absolutely not! This is a research driven, award-winning, evidenced based program (this means we track the results) recommended by the U.S. Administration on Aging. I personally have trained 42 health coach facilitators and we have delivered the program to over 2000 adults and their results have been impressive.
Is this an exercise program?
Not in the traditional sense. To achieve the health benefits, you do need to get moving, but you can do it any time, any place, and without any special equipment.
Will it help me to lose weight?
The primary purpose of the program is to help you develop an active lifestyle and eat well. Losing weight can be one of the benefits. From my own personal experience, I have lost over 40 pounds from working the program and have kept it off for four years.
How does this program work and will it work for me?
I’m sure you know that we can’t guarantee individual results. However, in our Awareness Session I will provide you with all the details as to how well the program works and the studies supporting it. I have plenty of personal stories from participants that have completed the program and my own stories as well.
A little over 5 years ago I had some serious health issues. A friend of mine knowing that I was working on my health recommended me to a non-profit that was looking for an instructor to teach a pilot class on the benefits of leading an active lifestyle.
When I saw that the Kenneth Cooper Institute (led the aerobic exercise research) was one of the developers and read the underlying research of this program I was blown away. I signed on to be trained to teach the class and started working the program myself.
My first class had about twenty participants and was held in the sanctuary of a small church. The changes I witnessed in my life and in the participants’ lives were remarkable so I offered to consult with the non-profit to increase the availability of the program in the local market.
Four years later, we’ve won awards and reached several thousand participants. I’m even more passionate about the program than when I first started and want everyone to have access to it. So I went to the developers and asked if we could create an online version of the program and here we are.
It’s an individually tailored program where you work at your own pace. It’s delivered in a group format with the support of the group and a coach/facilitator (that’s me.) There are online tools to lend additional support and a few other surprises you’ll find very useful.
Research has shown and I’ve seen it firsthand that when you couple your health priorities of being more active and eating well with life skills, the positive results significantly increase and the changes become more of a lifestyle change rather than an intervention.
Here are a few of the life skills we’ll help you to integrate with your health priorities:
- Clarify your goals
- Implement a plan
- Design weekly actions
- Identify and overcome your obstacles and barriers
- Plan for high risk situations
- Build confidence
- Develop meaningful rewards
- Enlist and ask for the support you need
- Make lasting changes
It doesn’t matter whether you’re just getting started with your health goals, or if you want to get back on track, or if you want to kick it up a notch this is a proven program that produces results.
I want to make sure that I can give a high degree of personal attention to each of you so I am limiting the size of each class to no more than twenty participants. And I only have room for four classes max so this will fill up quickly.
